The Premise
What is Echoes?
Echoes is a collection game wrapped around the rise and fall of civilizations. You found a people, guide them through a daily deck of dramatic events, and every choice you make leaves behind collectibles — heroes, artifacts, and relics that tell the story of your world.
Civilizations don't last forever. When yours finally collapses, its greatest works drift out into the multiverse as Echoes — and may wash up in another player's game. Then you found a new one, a little stronger, and begin again. The civilizations are temporary. Your collection is forever.
Collection-first
You're not trying to "win" a single run. You're building a permanent museum of myths across many lifetimes. Progress carries over; civilizations come and go.
The Heartbeat
The Daily Loop
Every day follows the same rhythm. Once you understand this cycle, you understand the game.
Found
Begin a civilization — give it a name, an archetype, and a defining trait.
Decide
Face a deck of events. Each choice shifts your civilization's stats and shapes its fate.
Collect
Every decision drops a collectible — guaranteed, with a rarity rolled in your favor over time.
Refine
Dissolve duplicates into Essence, evolve items to higher rarities, and complete Sets in your Museum.
Ascend
When your civilization collapses, harvest its legacy into Dynasty XP and an epitaph.
Echo
Its myths drift to other worlds — and theirs to yours. Found a new age and grow your collection.
You can't "fall behind." Miss a day and nothing is lost — your collection simply waits for you. Echoes is meant to be played a few minutes at a time.
Step One
Found a Civilization
Every civilization starts with three choices. They flavor the events you'll see and the story you'll tell — but none of them lock you out of anything.
Name your people
Anything you like — “Aurelia, the Tide-Born,” “The Ashen Court.” The app remembers your last name so you can re-found quickly.
Choose an archetype
Tradition, bloodlines, and the slow weight of crowns.
Expansion, conquest, and the strain of holding it together.
Faith, prophecy, and the will of unseen powers.
Markets, contracts, and progress measured in profit.
Voyages beyond the world, where myth meets the void.
A defining trait
Optional — a single word like seafaring, scholarly, or warlike that colors the events your people face.
Tap Begin the First Age and your world awakens.
The Core Act
The Event Deck & Decisions
Each day your civilization faces a small deck of events — a famine, a rival's challenge, a strange discovery. You read the situation and pick a response.
Every option nudges your civilization's hidden stats. There's rarely a "correct" answer — only the story you want to tell and the consequences you're willing to carry. Events come in five flavors:
- Political — courts, succession, loyalty, and intrigue.
- Economic — trade, harvests, wealth, and scarcity.
- Scientific — discovery, invention, and dangerous knowledge.
- Cultural — art, faith, festivals, and identity.
- Military — defense, conquest, rebellion, and war.
Crises
Some events arrive as crises — urgent, high-stakes moments flagged for your attention. When one appears, the game will point you straight to it.
Tip: there's no failure for a "wrong" choice. A bad turn just steers your story toward an earlier, more dramatic collapse — and collapse is a reward, not a punishment (see Ascension).
The Reward
Drops & Rarity
Every decision gives you a guaranteed collectible. What varies is its rarity. Rarer pieces are more beautiful, more powerful in your Loadout, and far harder to find.
Pity timers — the game keeps its promises
You'll never go dry forever. Echoes tracks how long it's been since your last rare find and quietly improves your odds, guaranteeing a fresh, higher-rarity piece if you've waited too long. Bad luck has a ceiling.
Where does the art come from?
Each collectible is illustrated by AI. Art is generated the first time a piece appears anywhere in the game, then shared across all players who own it — so a brand-new item may show a placeholder seal for a few seconds before its true portrait arrives.
Refining
Duplicates, Essence & Evolving
You'll find the same piece more than once. Duplicates aren't wasted — they dissolve into Essence, the dust of repeated myths.
Essence
Earned automatically from duplicates. Spend it to evolve.
Evolve
Pay Essence to raise a piece's rarity — Common → Rare → Epic and beyond.
Evolving is how you turn a pile of commons into the showpiece you actually want. Nothing you collect is ever truly junk.
Your Collection
The Museum & Sets
The Museum is your permanent gallery — every piece you've ever collected, kept across all your civilizations. It's the heart of the game.
Sets
Collectibles belong to themed Sets. Complete a Set to earn rewards and push up your Mastery — your overall collection progress. The Museum shows your next goal at a glance: how many Sets you've finished and what to chase next.
Mastery
Mastery is the percentage of the collection you've assembled. Reaching 100% unlocks Prestige, the game's deepest long-term goal.
Putting Pieces to Work
Loadout
Your collectibles aren't just for show. Equip them in your Loadout to strengthen your current civilization — better outcomes, sturdier stats, and more favorable events. Rarer pieces give bigger bonuses, so a well-evolved collection makes each new civilization stronger than the last.
The Fall — and the Reward
Collapse & Ascension
Every civilization eventually ends. In Echoes, that's the good part. When your world collapses, it ascends:
- An epitaph is written — a short story of how your people rose and fell.
- A harvest rewards you for what your civilization achieved.
- Dynasty XP is earned, leveling up your eternal bloodline across all civilizations.
Then you tap Begin a New Age and found your next civilization — carrying your collection, your Loadout, and your Dynasty forward.
Dynasty
Your permanent identity. Every civilization that lives and dies feeds its XP, and your Dynasty rank is one of the leaderboard's headline measures.
The Multiverse
Echoes
This is where the game gets its name. When civilizations across the world collapse, their greatest relics scatter into the multiverse. Some of them arrive in your game as Echoes — collectibles born from another player's fallen world.
You decide their fate: adopt an Echo into your own collection, or let it pass on to someone else. Every Echo carries the myth of the world that made it.
Tap the broadcast icon at the top of the screen to listen for Echoes drifting in from other worlds.
Make Your Own
The Forge
Don't want to wait on luck? The Forge lets you craft collectibles directly. Spend your resources to create a piece on demand — a reliable way to chase a specific item or push toward a Set you're close to completing.
Free Rewards
The Treasure Vault
The Vault is a chest you can open for Aether. Tap Watch & Open to view a short ad as your "free key," and the chest bursts open with a reward. You get a set number of free keys each day.
Watching a Vault ad also grants a 15-minute ad-free window — a quiet stretch with no interruptions while you play.
What You Spend
Aether & Essence
Aether
Your premium energy — earned from the Vault, streaks, and play. Powers Forge crafts, instant actions, and acceleration.
Essence
The dust of duplicates. Spent to evolve collectibles to higher rarities.
Neither currency can be used to buy an unfair advantage over other players — they only speed up and smooth out things you'd reach anyway.
The Long Game
Prestige
When you reach 100% Mastery, you can Prestige: ascend your entire collection. Your Museum resets, but you rise a Prestige level, earn a large Aether reward, and gain a permanent boost to your future drop rarities. It's the ultimate goal for dedicated collectors — and a badge of honor on the leaderboard.
Ascended items
Reach the top with a single piece and you can Ascend it past Mythic into a one-of-a-kind Ascended treasure — the rarest state a collectible can hold.
Standing Among Worlds
Leaderboard & Seasons
Echoes ranks players three ways, so there's a ladder for every kind of player:
- Prestige — how many times you've perfected and ascended your collection.
- Dynasty — the total XP of your eternal bloodline.
- Legacy — the lasting weight of the civilizations you've raised.
Your leaderboard name is the name of your civilization, so the worlds you found are the worlds others see. Seasons refresh the chase on a regular cadence with new content and fresh standings.
Daily Rhythm
Quests & Streaks
Each day brings a short list of Daily Quests — simple goals like making a decision or completing a Set — that pay out Aether. Play on consecutive days to build a streak, and hit milestones for bigger rewards. The Next Mission card on your main screen always points you to the most useful thing to do right now.
Quick Start
Tips for New Players
- Just decide. Don't overthink early choices — every decision gives you a collectible, so you're always making progress.
- Evolve, don't hoard. Turn stacks of duplicates into Essence and push your favorite pieces up the rarity ladder.
- Chase Sets. Completing Sets is the fastest path up your Mastery.
- Embrace collapse. A falling civilization is a payday — harvest it and found a stronger one.
- Open the Vault daily. Free keys and a 15-minute ad-free window are worth the visit.
- Follow the compass. When in doubt, do whatever the Next Mission card suggests.
